Teresa Castaneda

   Teresa Castaneda was born in Havana, Cuba. She graduated in art history with specialization in folk dancing and improved her experiences at the Conjunto Folklorico Nacional de Cuba.

   She came to Italy in 1989 and settled in Mestre (Venice), where she began immediately to teach Latin dances: Salsa, Merengue, Rumba, Mambo, Cha-cha-cha, Rueda de Casino etc. She founded Ibu Akuaro school and together with her dancing group she performs with in all the best clubs in the Veneto region, at Latin events and concerts where she is being appreciated for her unique and complete style of choreography.

   In 2005 she became an international judge of the FIDS (Italian Federation of Sport Dance), judging the Italian Championships, Italian Cup editions and representing Italy in the jury at the World Championships in Aruba (Venezuela) and in New York.

   In collaboration with the Italy-Cuba Association she organizes several performances at the Carnival of Venice as well as theatre shows explaining history of cuban music. She is collaborating with best cuban dance instructors and continually updating her style during frequent study trips to Cuba.
